Dermal fillers
Dermal fillers consist of hyaluronic acid, a natural ingredient of normal skin, which is lost with increasing age pre-disposing to facial lines, wrinkles, folds and creases as we become older. Fillers are injected into the face beneath the skin to replace or enhance volume and re-shape the face and are used to soften deeper lines and wrinkles which can become permanent with age.
Fillers are slowly broken down over a period of months so the effects are “semi-permanent” and last up to 6-18 months depending on the area treated.

Thin lips can be a natural appearance or a sign of ageing and loss of collagen and subsequently loss of volume in the body of the lips and loss of definition in the lip borders. The amount of filler used determines a natural or more dramatic look.

These are the lines between the nose and the corners of the mouth that become more prominent with age. Dermal fillers can be injected to soften and smooth out these folds.
These are the lines between the corners of the mouth and the jawline which develop with age. Dermal fillers injected near the mouth corners in a crosshatch pattern and massaged can help to smooth out these lines.
Deeper horizontal forehead lines which are present when the face is relaxed may be improved with dermal injections under the skin.
With age and subsequent loss of subcutaneous fat the cheeks can tend to appear sunken and exacerbate facial lines. Dermal fillers injected over the cheekbones can be used to add volume and shaping to the cheeks which can also lift the lines in the lower face for a more youthful appearance.
Younger clients may wish to enhance the shape and definition of the cheeks which can also be achieved with dermal fillers. Dermal fillers injected over the cheekbones can be used to add volume and shaping to the cheeks which can also lift the lines in the lower face for a more youthful appearance.
With age, the subcutaneous tissues in the back of the hands can be lost leading to the tendons appearing more prominent. This loss of volume can be replaced with small amounts of dermal filler injected into the sunken spaces between the tendons and massaged.
